If you’re ever in the mood to clear your head and just happen to be passing by city Kranj, I suggest a 10K walk that feels like a reset button.
Brdo Estate might be known today for its landscaped park, hotel, protocol meetings, football and official gatherings, but what I love most about it is what surrounds it: a gravel path that loops all the way around. It’s simple, quiet, and surprisingly refreshing.
I usually start from one of the small parking spots just off the main road. From there, it doesn’t take long before the noise of the outside world fades and the rhythm of the walk takes over. The terrain is easy—no climbing, no scrambling, just a steady path. Some stretches pull you into shade under tall trees, where it smells of earth and leaves. Others open up to wide fields, where you can see the mountains in the distance and feel the space expand around you.
What I enjoy most is how the walk seems to balance everything out. There are moments of stillness, where the only sound is birdsong, and then moments where the openness of the fields almost feels like a deep breath for the soul. Sometimes I pass a runner or another walker, but more often than not, it’s just me and the trail.
It’s not a demanding walk—10 kilometers feels just right. Long enough to sink into your thoughts, or let them drift away altogether, but not so long that it turns into a chore. By the time I loop back to where I began, I feel lighter, calmer, and a little more present.
For me, this path around Brdo isn’t just a walk. It’s a way of stepping out of the everyday and remembering to appreciate the surroundings, to breathe, and to simply be outside. If you ever find yourself nearby, give it a try—you might just find the same quiet joy waiting for you.
